Back in August Fitbit released several portable devices, including Fitbit Versa 3, Sense and Inspire 2. During the launch, the company promised to offer users new features with the software.
Now Fitbit has begun shipping Sense and Versa 3. Both smart wearable devices come with the latest version of Fitbit OS 5.0. The fifth version of proprietary software makes some major changes to the navigation and user interface. Now users will spend a finger from left to right to go one step back, instead of the “Back” button. The “Back” button now brings you back to the dial.
In addition, the dimensions of the user interface elements have also been changed to make operation easier. For example, it will now be easier to click on targets while moving or running.
Fitbit OS 5.0 also offers the new Raiju system font, which is designed so that text can use space efficiently. Developers will need to make some changes to their applications to match the new design. Fitbit has released a new SDK 5.0 for application developers.
Fitbit OS 5.0 is only compatible with the new hardware. This means that only the new Fitbit Versa 3 and Sense will get a new operating system. All of the company’s old portable devices will not receive this new software.
