The Russian company Avant Space reported that it has successfully completed the testing of a laser unit for its spacecraft aimed at displaying advertising from space. The block of lasers was launched into the stratosphere at an altitude of about 30 km in order to confirm the design level of light source power in conditions close to space.
Test run allowed to confirm all calculations, and the company’s experts promised that their “artificial constellation” in terms of brightness in the night sky will be comparable to Venus, that is, it will be brighter than any star and any other object in the night sky except the moon. At the same time, Avant Space assured that the glow of its devices will not create problems for astronomers, as lasers will be turned on only when the satellites fly over large metropolitan areas.
According to the company’s specialists’ calculations, the coverage of advertising images, which will create its satellites, will be 1 billion people.
Impressive? And all this is not another utopian idea that will appear in far future. The manufacturer has assured that the first two satellites of the project will be launched into orbit very soon, in 2022.
