Microsoft is working on a new useful feature for the Windows 10 operating system. It is already available for participants of the test program Windows 10 Insider.
The system will warn the user if the application by its own fault configures automatic start when the PC is turned on. This will allow for easier and faster detection of malicious applications, as well as better monitoring of which applications can slow down the boot and run the PC, starting automatically and without the user’s knowledge.
However, the function has its limitations. According to Jen Gentleman, Senior Community Manager at Microsoft, the feature only alerts you about the applications listed on Options > Applications > Start Download.
She also clarified that applications configured to autorun with tools such as RunOnce, “Services” or ScheduledTask are not covered by the new feature.
