Huawei officially presented Hongmeng OS 2.0 operating system at the HDC 2020 developers conference. Immediately after that the company released a beta version of Hongmeng OS 2.0 for smart TVs, smart watches and car multimedia systems. The global version of Huawei Hongmeng operating system is HarmonyOS.
The company also announced that it will release the mobile version in December. Some time after the launch of this version, the smartphones will fully support Hongmeng 2.0. In addition, was launched the official website of Huawei Harmony OS, which is available to download the source code of the operating system.
Since September 10, HarmonyOS has open source code for the above devices with up to 128 MB of RAM. In April 2021, the list will include devices with up to 4 GB of RAM. After October 2021, support will be added for all devices with more than 4 GB of RAM.
Huawei Harmony OS is a future-oriented distributed operating system for all spheres (mobile office, health, social communications, media entertainment and so on). HarmonyOS offers a distributed concept, based on the same system capabilities and adapts to different types of terminal devices.
Wang Chenglu, the President of the consumer software department of Huawei, has already stated that the prohibition of Android will bring more benefit to Huawei than harm, and also explained what exactly the new operating system so much different from the brainchild of Google.
