New iOS 14 Picture-in-picture feature is blocked on YouTube without a paid subscription

A few weeks ago Apple released a new version of its mobile operating system iOS 14 for iPhone. One of the innovations is the function “Picture-in-picture” (PiP). As it turned out, this innovation works on YouTube with one important limitation.

“Picture-in-picture” allows you to watch a video or talk on FaceTime, while using another application. So, Google blocks the PiP mode for YouTube video service for all iPhone users who do not use a paid subscription.

In this case, users of YouTube Premium paid subscription use the mode “Picture-in-picture”. The problem was noticed on YouTube mobile site. At the same time, iPad users who visit the desktop version of YouTube do not face this problem. Also the mode works with built-in YouTube clips on third-party sites.
