Google will recently introduce a restriction on the free use of video conferencing service Google Meet. This step was planned, but for many it may come as a surprise.
Google has launched Google Meet for all users in spring 2020. At that time, the service was considered as one of the best alternatives to the super-popular Zoom. At the time of launch, Google promised that until October 2020, Google Meet users can use video conferencing without any restrictions for free. However now users of the free version of Google Meet video conferencing becomes limited to 60 minutes.
Conditionally unlimited video conferences (duration up to 300 hours) will remain the property of users of paid packages G Suite and G Suite for Education.
