Windows 10 has a fairly useful feature: the operating system will warn users that the SSD installed in their system is reaching the end of its useful life. The operating system will also recommend backing up data stored on the SSD.
So far this feature has been implemented in Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 20266, published in the Dev Channel for testers.
In the official blog post accompanying the release of this version of Windows 10, Microsoft notes that “After receiving this notification [of SSD problems], users are strongly encouraged to back up their data immediately. By clicking on this important notification, the user will be taken to the Disk Management menu, where he or she will be given more detailed information about the problem SSD, including the estimated remaining lifetime and temperature.
