Xiaomi smartphones are known for their MIUI shell, which offers an expanded set of features compared with the “pure” version of Android. Among such features was the recording of calls. And now this feature is again available on many Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones. All thanks to the recent update of the Google Phone app.
However, in early 2020, Xiaomi was forced to do some of the functions in the MIUI in connection with the laws on privacy and restrictions – in a number of regions on smartphones companies began to use more intensively the services and applications of Google. In particular, the pre-installed application MIUI Dialer (dialing) was replaced by the standard for Android branded Google Phone. As a result of these innovations, the function of Call Recording in MIUI became unavailable.
In April, the new version of the branded application Google Phone dialing with the added function of recording calls “arrived” users of smartphones Nokia in India. It was expected that starting with Nokia developers will not stop and release the corresponding update for other smartphones, including Xiaomi.
However, so far, recording of calls has been available only to Xiaomi and Redmi users with firmware for China, Indonesia and India, but the global and European versions of the firmware did not offer this feature.
And now, Google has started a large-scale distribution of the function for a variety of Chinese smartphones, including Redmi Note 8 Pro, Note 9 Pro, Note 9S, Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and other models. Users confirm in official Xiaomi communities that the call recording function has become available in Google Phone.
