In March 2020, Xiaomi Mobile Software filed a design patent with the World Intellectual Property Office. The patent was approved on September 18, 2020 and the documentation contains 16 product sketches showing a folding phone on all sides.
Letsgodigital’s resource used the sketches to create a more graphic model of the device. In the folded state, the patented Xiaomi phone has screens on the front and back, that is, you get a pretty thick smartphone with two screens. Such models are already on the market.
On the front panel there is an opening for the front camera. It is noteworthy that there is no main camera on sketches. This is because the patent is dedicated to the screen, how to fold the device and possible scenarios of use.
On the right panel you can find the volume control and power on buttons, as well as a slot for SIM cards. In addition, the smartphone should have stereo speakers on the top and bottom as well as a USB-C connector.
It is important to note that the first bending Xiaomi smartphone, the prototype of which was shown last year, also bent in two places, but had a different form factor. It seems that Xiaomi is still moving in this direction.
