Xiaomi India has announced a new program in which it will create in India a whole network of small “stores on wheels” Mi Store on Wheels. With this program Xiaomi wants to offer its products to residents of remote parts of the country.
According to Muralikrishnan B, Chief Operating Officer of Xiaomi Mi India, the Mi Store on Wheels project aims to showcase Mi Store products in restricted areas. He also stated that the company “observes all the necessary hygiene and safety regulations while maintaining a social distance. These points will be completely safe for consumers to visit”.
The Mi Store on Wheels will feature all recently released Redmi smartphones including Redmi 9, Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi 9A. In addition to smartphones, these mobile stores will also sell other Xiaomi products, including smart TVs, set-top boxes, surveillance cameras, headphones, sunglasses, portable batteries and other accessories.
This step of the company is aimed at introducing innovations into the existing retail network. Mi Store on Wheels is also a method to increase sales in areas that are less accessible to retailers and online stores during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The new distribution channel is part of an initiative that aims to blur the boundaries between online and offline commerce.
