In late 2018, unexpectedly for many, Royole announced the world’s first folding smartphone, called FlexPai. This company exists since 2012 and specializes in flexible display technology, but FlexPai was their first smartphone. Now the company has released the successor to the original model called FlexPai 2.
It is already available for pre-order in China at $1470 in the version with 8 GB of flash memory and 256 GB of flash memory. Version with 12GB RAM and 512GB of flash memory is available for 1700 dollars.
Royole FlexPai 2 has several improvements over its predecessor. It has received a flexible OLED display Cicada Wing 3rd generation, and the body can be folded with zero clearance. The company claims that the developers have reduced the overall thickness of the phone in the folded state by 40% compared to the previous model.
The 7.8-inch display has a resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels at an aspect ratio of 4:3. When folded, you get two 5.5″ and 5.4″ screens respectively. The smartphone is based on a single-crystal system Snapdragon 865, it supports dual-mode (SA / NSA) connection 5G.
The new phone from Royole has a battery capacity of 4450 mAh, plus there is also support for fast charging of 18 Watts. Sales of the smartphone have already started.
