Google has special hopes for its new smartphone Pixel 5, but critics are not so optimistic.
The device will receive SoC Snapdragon 765G and will cost less than Pixel 4 at the start. In general, it will be the first non-flagship smartphone of the senior line of Google, if evaluated from the platform. And so there are questions to the device, because it’s not clear whether even Pixel fans will want to buy it.
Recent data hints that Google itself understands that Pixel 5 is unlikely to surpass in sales even of its predecessor – Pixel 4. The source claims that the company expects to sell less than 1 million units by the end of the year. To be more precise, about 800,000 units are to be produced.
Needless to say, Google’s forecasts are also affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as Pixel sales in the first half of this year amounted to only 1.5 million units, which is almost three times less than the previous year.
Last year, the search giant sold a record 7.2 million smartphones for the Pixel family, and it was much more than a year earlier. This year, Google will not beat its own record for sure.
