Google has announced the next step, which is designed to preserve the mental health of smartphone users. To do this, will be turned off some filters in the branded application Google Camera. Starting with Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 in the camera application retouching is disabled by default.
Google notes that 70% of the photos on Android smartphones is the front camera and 24 billion photos in the service Google Photos are marked as selfies. At the same time Google has come to the conclusion that a number of filters, which users apply, themselves not knowing, because those are enabled by default, can adversely affect the mental health of mankind, as they form unnatural standards of beauty.
To bring users more control over this process, Google decided to do the following. Starting with smartphones Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 in the camera application retouch is disabled by default. Retouching can be enabled, but you have to do it consciously. Also, if the user wants to apply these effects to a photo, he will see on the screen information about each setting and the changes it will cause.
