In spring we wrote that the company Samsung intends to translate its television sets from LCD panels on the QD-OLED panel. These are panels that combine OLED technology and quantum dots.
However, it seems that with the development of this technology, everything will be different as it was with QLED. The source claims that Samsung Display in the near future will begin production of panels QD-OLED, but Samsung Electronics is not yet going to buy them for use in TVs. Apparently, the latter has no such plans at least for the next year.
Therefore panels QD-OLED of manufacture Samsung Display will be initially sold on the side. To be more exact, TCL will be the first client, i.e. it will be the first one who can offer TVs with QD-OLED panels. Deliveries will begin in the first half of 2021, and the announcement of the first 65-inch model is scheduled for September during the exhibition IFA 2021.
One of the reasons why Samsung Electronics does not want to buy a new type of Samsung Display panel, allegedly because of the lack of brightness of the latter. It should be understood that in this situation there is nothing supernatural. Yes, usually Samsung Electronics – the first and main client of other companies Samsung Group, but it is not necessary.
