After the UK removed Huawei from its 5G infrastructure and ordered companies to remove Huawei equipment from existing networks by 2027, the United States renewed its efforts to put pressure on Europe.
Keith Krach, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, warned Germany and Italy that Huawei is “the hand of the Communist Party of China and a tool for human rights violations. However, neither Kate Krach nor the United States has provided any evidence to support his claims.
He also recommended Finnish Nokia and Swedish Ericsson, adding that the two companies should choose European governments to develop 5G infrastructure. He said Huawei’s involvement in building the next-generation European cell phone network would jeopardize NATO’s alliance.
Germany and Italy are discussing whether to allow the telecommunications giant to participate in building a national 5G network. This happened after Great Britain and France gave up Huawei’s services under pressure from the United States.
The United States has already imposed severe sanctions on the Chinese giant, making the survival of the world’s largest smartphone company much more difficult. That’s why Huawei Corporation has recently directed all efforts to establish China’s supply chain of all components without foreign companies.
