1100 h.p. decide everything. Tesla Model S Plaid raced lap faster than McLaren P1 supercar

An interesting video of the lap on the Laguna Seca track (it is located near the city of Monterey in the state of California) by the electric car Tesla Model S Plaid – the one that a few days ago presented Ilon Musk. Interested here, first of all, time on the lap.

Pre-production Tesla Model S Plaid (production and sales will start only next year) went round in 1:30,3 sec. An this is record of lap!

Of course, there was a professional driver Johannes Van Overbeek at the wheel, so the result for an ordinary driver will be more modest. But if we are measured by the capabilities of professionals, the McLaren P1 under the control of another car racer Randy Pobst performed not better, but even worse. Moreover, the Tesla record is very close to the time of passing the lap hybrid hypercar Porsche 918 Spyder and supercar McLaren Senna. So this video fully confirms our assumptions that the 1100 hp Tesla Model S Plaid will be faster than other supercars and hypercars. The Model S Plaid is valued at $140,000 – 10 times less than the same Porsche 918 Spyder.

However, another point is more important for Tesla itself: the Model S Plaid was faster than the one announced earlier this month by Lucid Air – its direct (and, again, more expensive) competitor. He had gone round the Lagoon of Seca in 1:33…
