Bear Robotics and SoftBank Robotics Group introduced a new robot-waiter

Bear Robotics, a company dealing with robotics and artificial intelligence, and SoftBank Robotics Group, a leading manufacturer of robotics and a supplier of related solutions, jointly introduced the new robot. It is called Servi and is designed for the catering industry.

According to the partners, “Servi was designed to become a new employee in the catering industry, help staff and improve customer service. It has already been tested in several locations in the United States, South Korea and Japan”.

The robot with dimensions of 445 x 430 x 1046 mm and a weight of 33 kg is designed for a payload of up to 30 kg. It runs for 8-12 hours without recharging. The robot can move around the hall, detecting obstacles and bypassing them, in particular avoiding collisions with visitors. It is able to carry orders and act as a waiter’s assistant, taking dirty dishes for washing.

The robot’s versatility is ensured by interchangeable trays. It is possible to work several robots simultaneously. It is alleged that the use of Servi allows to improve the efficiency of the institution and the quality of customer service.
