Lightweight Lucid Air tried to get around on the Tesla Model S Plaid track. It didn’t work out

After the crazy Tesla Model S Plaid elevator went round the famous Laguna Seca track faster than the McLaren P1 supercar, Lucid Motors tried to rub the nose of a competitor. Alas, they did not succeed. Thus, if Model S Plaid was on special tires, but quite standard size, Lucid made some “adaptation”.

First, Lucid installed “wider wheels and tires” on Air, as well as more powerful brakes. Also the interior was partially dismantled, which, of course, had a positive impact on the weight of the car and improved dynamics. And now – the result. “Finished” Lucid Air has passed a lap on a track of Laguna Seca for 1:31.3 s, and record Tesla, we remind, – 1:30.3 s.

Of course, so far none of these electric cars has reached the mass production stage, so as they are finished, the performance should improve and the time on the lap – fall. But already now it becomes clear, how “evil” the Tesla Model S Plaid has turned out. Although at the time of the announcement Air seemed that to prepare a decent response to the Air Tesla will be very difficult.
