Last month, it was said that Samsung has certain problems with the 5-nanometer process, so, allegedly, the manufacture of the flagship single crystal system Snapdragon 875 will take TSMC. But the new data to produce Snapdragon 875 will still be Samsung. And Qualcomm has already paid for the entire production volume.
It is reported that Samsung has received a contract for a record amount of 1 trillion won, which approximately equals 844 million U.S. dollars. For comparison, a large order Huawei for the production of both 5- and 7-nanometer single crystal systems, on which TSMC worked almost four months, was then worth about 800 million dollars. So it is clear that Samsung received a very large order for the entire production volume of Snapdragon 875.
SoC will be produced by the process of 5 nm EUV. And although production starts earlier, the Snapdragon 875 itself will be presented only in December, and ready-made devices on its basis will appear only in the first quarter of 2021.
