TSMC is already producing 5-nanometer single-chip platforms and processors, and next year, according to the source, it will start trial production of single-chip systems with the process of 3 nm. Mass production of products created by the process of 3 nm, at TSMC facilities will begin in the second half of 2022.
As the source writes, there will be four waves of “production capacity” – one more than the other. Accordingly, within the first wave, the production volume will be the smallest, so almost all (and if not resumed production of SoC Huawei Kirin, then most likely all) it will be taken by Apple – with a new generation of single crystal platforms for the iPhone 14.
Apple is a long-standing partner of TSMC. The Taiwanese company produces SoC for Apple mobile devices starting with the iPhone 7. Needless to say, Apple provides TSMC with a very large volume of orders, and with the transition of MacBook to Apple’s own processors these volumes will only grow.
