Nvidia’s Ampere generation graphics cards have already entered the market, although so far this has only been true for GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. Soon, RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti will join them. What about mobile adapters?

The photo below shows a qualifying sample of a GeForce RTX 3070 mobile graphics card. We can note the presence of 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.

There are no other details yet. The GA104 GPU itself, underlying RTX 3070, contains 6144 CUDA cores, but only 5888 cores are active on the desktop card. It is not yet known how many cores the mobile 3D card will have. The last two generations of Nvidia graphics cards stand out because mobile cards are almost identical to desktop cards. However, the Ampere generation differs from the previous generation by higher power consumption.

The same desktop RTX 3070 power consumption of 220 W, which corresponds to RTX 2080. That is, the mobile RTX 3070 may well get almost the same characteristics as the desktop, except that the frequency will be reduced. But concerning RTX 3080 there are big doubts: such a video card in mobile form can simply not come out or come out with significantly reduced parameters.

It is expected, that mobile cards Ampere will be presented in the beginning of next year at exhibition CES 2021.
