Although the end of the third quarter is nearing, specialists of IDC analytical company have just summed up the results of the second quarter of this year in the server market.
If we believe their calculations, this market grew by 19.8% year on year – from $20.068 billion to $24.037 billion. It should be noted that in quantitative terms, server supplies for the year increased by 18.4%, i.e. the average price increased. In total, 3.2 million systems were shipped during the quarter.
It is noteworthy that the highest growth is observed in the upper segment, where previously sales were declining. It reached 44.1%. In monetary terms, this segment equals $1.9 billion. In the lower segment, estimated at $18.7 billion, the growth was 22.1%, while sales in the middle segment decreased by 0.4% to $3.3 billion.
IDC specialists placed HPE/New H3C Group and Dell Technologies, which have 14.9% and 13.9% market share respectively, on the first place in the supplier rating. The analysts explain that the error in calculations does not allow making more certain conclusions when the difference is 1% or less. Next comes Inspur/Inspur Power Systems with 10.5%, followed by Lenovo and IBM, which also share one place, as their shares are equal to 6.1% and 6.0% respectively.
