Negatively affecting the global economy as a whole, the COVID-19 pandemic has created favorable conditions in some segments of the computer market. In particular, as people spend more time at home, the demand for gaming PCs and monitors has increased. Specialists of the analytical company IDC expect that sales of these products from 2020 will increase by 16.2% compared to 2019. In total, they will be shipped 49.6 million pieces.
Let’s clarify that the gaming personal computers at IDC refers to desktop and mobile systems with high-performance graphics processors, and by gaming monitors means models with an update rate of 100 Hz or higher.
The market will continue to grow in the years to come. To be more precise, an average annual growth of 5.7% is forecasted for the period from 2020 to 2024. If this forecast is accurate, in 2024 will be shipped 61.9 million gaming PCs and monitors.
If we talk about each category separately, according to IDC forecast the supply of desktop PCs will grow from 14.8 to 15.8 million or 1.6% per year, the supply of monitors – from 12.4 to 16.0 million pieces or 6.4% per year, and the supply of laptops – from 22.3 to 30.2 million pieces or 7.9% per year.
