The WhatsApp application for fast messaging and file exchange also has a browser version. The developers decided to make the web version more secure by adding biometric scanning support.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has created a separate team to work on making the whole service more secure. The messaging platform owned by Facebook will soon receive a security update, which will provide fingerprint authentication for the web version of WhatsApp. To launch this version, you will need to open WhatsApp on your smartphones and scan for a fingerprint.
At the present moment WhatsApp Web requires from users only to scan a QR code at the display of their computer or notebook in order to initiate the connection and the smartphone should also have a stable internet connection. It is not clear yet, whether users will need to continue scanning a QR code after adding this feature. The update will be released in the nearest future.
