Google Meet began to support noise reduction in the cloud, following for its competitor Zoom

Google has released an update for its Google Meet service, which adds noise reduction technology. In this case, you do not need special headphones that are equipped with this technology. Noise suppression works with the cloud service AI Google, which captures sound, processes it and removes noise.

Support for noise reduction is now available to users of Google Meet on Android and iOS platforms, but those who use the service through a browser, can also use the new feature. There is only one important thing to remember: by default, this feature is disabled.

To enable noise reduction on your device, if you are using Android, tap the screen, then select “More” / “Settings” and enable this feature before making a video call. The same is available on your iPhone and iPad. The function of noise reduction can filter out the noise of typing on the keyboard, closing the door, the sounds of repair, and so on. However, it will not filter out voices from the TV or people speaking simultaneously.

This feature is not yet available in the following countries: Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa and the UAE.

Recall that in the spring, Google Meet application became free for all users.
