IDC analysts summed up the first half of the year in the Chinese wireless headphone market. In total, 42.56 million devices were sold in the reporting period. This indicator corresponds to 24% annual growth.
It is noteworthy that “really wireless headphones”, i.e. the models that lack not only the wire to connect to the source, but also the wire between the left and right headphones, accounted for 64% of sales. Compared to the first half of last year, sales of such models increased by 49%.
IDC experts note a large number of market participants and a high level of competition: the first three manufacturers provide a total of only 37% of supplies. At the same time, the emergence of really wireless headphones has become in the last two years an important incentive for consumers to replace the existing models. An additional factor in the increase in demand is considered to be the pandemic, which has increased the number of workers and students at home.
The market leader is Apple, whose share is 18.1%. The second place is occupied by Huawei with 10.1%. Next comes Xiaomi with 8.3%. The market distribution is clearly shown in the diagram below:
