As we have already reported, Samsung Display and LG Display will stop supplying panels for smartphones of Huawei Technologies due to restrictions imposed by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
The company Samsung Display, which considers Samsung Electronics and Apple major customers for its OLED-screens, declined to comment. However, LG Display considered it necessary to comment on this information.
Firstly, representatives of LG Display confirmed that this is really true. Secondly, the statement of LG Display said that this move by the U.S. will have a minimal impact on the company, given the limited supply of panels in Huawei. The company added that the company will continue to diversify its customer base, so investors should not worry about the financial results of the company in the near future and in the long term.
Previously, it was assumed that the new sanctions would apply only to semiconductors and foundries. But since the sanctions include chips for display management, display manufacturers have also stopped supplying their panels.
It is also known that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will stop supplying not only memory, but other equipment, including 5G modules.
