Gigabyte presented the new 2TB Aorus SSD as an expansion card with PCIe Gen 4 interface. From a design point of view, it is an adapter card for the PCI-Express 4.0 x16 slot with four 500GB M.2 size drives with PCIe Gen 4 x4 interface.
A copper radiator and fan provide heat removal from the drives. The board has a fan speed control circuitry based on the temperature and an indication of device activity.
Size M.2 drives use 96-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory and Phison PS5016-E16 controllers. The array offers sequential read speeds of up to 15,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 9,500 MB/s.
The 4K random access performance reaches 425,000 IOPS in read mode and 440,000 IOPS in write mode. The company does not provide any price or service life, but it is known that the warranty period is five years.
