Future Microsoft Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S game consoles have received SSDs for data storage, but users will also have access to external SSDs or expansion cards.
The Seagate 1TB gaming drive for Xbox Series X and S is already available for pre-order from Best Buy at $220. This is a PCIe Gen4 x2 SSD. Recall that the Xbox Series X will have a 1TB drive and the Xbox Series S will have a 512GB SSD.
At the same time, the younger console of the next generation Microsoft does not support optical media, so the free space will run out sooner or later, so many owners will have to spend an impressive amount of money to continue to install new products, keeping your favorite games. In this case, the accessory will cost a little cheaper than the console itself, which costs 300 dollars.
You can also use traditional external drives to expand your storage, be it an SSD or a hard drive, but games designed for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will not run from these slower drives. You will be able to use them to transfer games from previous generations.
The new external drive will go on sale on November 10 along with the consoles themselves.
