EK, a company specializing in components for computer cooling systems, introduced a bracket for vertical video card mounting. The manufacturer notes that the design of the product uses developments for which a patent application has been filed.
Bracket EK-Loop Vertical GPU Holder is different from other similar solutions in that for additional stability of the graphics card uses two mounting points on the motherboard ATX. Before installing the bracket at the ATX mounting points are two plastic racks. They protect the board and allow mounting the bracket even on boards with sufficiently high radiators and decorative housings.
In addition, the EK bracket is advantageously characterized by the greater thickness of parts, which provides increased rigidity and reliability of the design. More specifically, the material is 1.5 mm thick steel sheet.
The EK-Loop bracket is suitable for ATX enclosures with an open layout in the PCIe mounting plate area (minimum six free slots required). The video card can be with single or dual mounting strips. The height of the cooling system does not matter. The length of the included PCIe Gen 3.0 transition cable is 200 mm.
Later, EK promises to release a version of EK-Loop Vertical GPU Holder – Shifted, compatible with cases where there are strips between the slots. Now to install a graphics card vertically in such a case you have to cut the bars, and the new bracket will do without modification of the case. It has been moved a bit away from the wall of the case, so there is space for connecting the display cable. This version will come with a special 1.8 m long Display Port 1.4 cable with an angled connector.
