Former Microsoft top manager: Even cheap Xbox Series S will be faster than PlayStation 5

After Sony finally announced the price of gaming consoles PlayStation 5, it turned out that PS5 directly competes with Xbox Series X, but the Xbox Series S is 100 dollars / Euro cheaper than PS5 Digital Edition. In this case, the first three times lower in performance than its older sister, but the younger console Sony differs from the older only by the lack of a drive.

It would seem that in the battle of the younger ones everything is quite simple: Microsoft console is more accessible, but weaker. However, there is an alternative opinion. Albert Penello, previously head of marketing Xbox for 18 years, said that in a number of games Xbox Series S can be faster than PlayStation 5! That is, any one of the PS5s, as they are identical in performance.

After yesterday’s Twitter presentation, Panello talked to readers about the event and more. In particular, he wrote that the processor in the Xbox Series S is almost the same as in the Series X (i.e. a little more performance than in PlayStation 5), so it will have more free resources, so cross-platform games on the Xbox Series S can show higher frame rates than on the PS5.

Recall that the GPU of the latter is more productive than the graphics core of the first about two and a half times, so that the statement of Panello sees more trolling or a statement of a Microsoft fan, despite all its professional qualities. Although, perhaps, he just decided not to specify what is meant by the number of frames per second in different resolutions, because PS5 is oriented at 4K, but Xbox Series S is oriented at Full HD or 2K.

Panello also stated that Xbox Velocity Architecture technology would be as powerful as the ultra-fast SSD in PlayStation 5, and here, of course, you can’t rule something like that out.

The former Microsoft employee added to the whole story with a direct instigation of Sony.

An interesting turn of events. What was considered fundamental to the philosophy of Sony (“We believe in generations”) and the losing position of Microsoft (exclusive games, also available on PC), was adopted in today’s show. A good test for the Xbox strategy

The fact is that just a month ago, Sony explained why many games for PlayStation 5 will not be released on PlayStation 4, using the same phrase about the belief in the generation, the name in mind that the new console available new technologies, and gamers need to give the game where it is used to the maximum. And yesterday’s event and the details that followed showed that many games announced for the PS5, including as exclusives, will eventually be released on PS4. And some of them will be available on the PC, which is exactly the same strategy that Microsoft adheres to.
