The first reviews of the new generation game console have started to appear on the Internet. There is less than a month left before the consoles start selling. On the other hand, we can already learn something directly about the experience of the device.
Needless to say, journalists are not allowed to tell everything. The main thing that highlights the sources is the speed of work and the speed of downloading games and games. As writes a journalist Engadget, on his feelings games began to load three or four times faster. In particular, on Xbox One Control game loads in 30-38 seconds, and on Xbox Series X it takes only 9-10 seconds, and in the case of Final Fantasy XV the difference is about six times.
Another impressive feature is Quick resume. It allows you to quickly switch between multiple games, and each game remains in your memory. Switching is not instantaneous – it takes 5-10 seconds – but it’s still much better than what we have now.
What is interesting is that there is no clear limit on the number of games in memory – it is limited by the hardware component as an SSD cache. So everything will depend on specific games, but the Engadget journalist successfully switched between five. However, there is an important condition: the game must support this function. Not only new games will support it. For example, Control, Don’t Starve, Felix the Reaper, Resident Evil 7, Blair Witch, Untitled Goose Game, Fallout: New Vegas and Sunset Overdrive are already working within Quick resume.
When it comes to performance, everything depends on the game. Of course, journalists have tested games for the current generation, but we know that XSX should not only add HDR support to old games when possible, but also improve performance. For example, Sekiro shows 60 fps on the new console, while on Xbox One X it’s about 37 fps, but No Man’s Sky produces 30 fps everywhere, because that’s a limitation of the console version engine.
Also, our colleagues note the silence of XSX, and for the top console it’s great. Given Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda, for many, the new Xboxes may be a more tempting purchase than PlayStation 5.
