Presuming XP finds this as an unknown device, you just update the driver by pointing XP into the folder where the driver was extracted to. I have the same problem You just described common way to install ethernet controler but it isn’t possible to use this method on this motherboard I’ve tried have a disk and finding the driver but I just get a bunch of drivers descriptions for example Intel R based Lan adapter etc.
Anyway, I went to the Intel site, and looked around there for drivers, but no dice. P4p800-v Forum on desktop PCs is the best source for finding help, troubleshooting, and getting buying advice from a community of experts.
The file I downloaded required “SNMP” to be installed, and I never had to do that before, so that cannot be the right file. Your posts bring up a good question.
